The Books That Opened the Door

Insight Into...

Have you ever read a poem or looked at a painting and wondered if there was something more you were supposed to see?

That's where a little guidance can make all the difference.

After years of teaching literature and creating hands-on lessons, I wrote Insight Into Emily Dickinson and Insight Into Symbolism to help make those discoveries a little easier.

You don't need to be an expert. Just curious enough to look again.

A LIFETIME OF CURIOUS LEARNING

After more than 25 years of teaching, there is still one moment that never gets old for me.

It's watching someone realize they understand more than they thought they did.

I've worked with learners of all ages, and I've seen how easily someone can decide a poem is too difficult, a classic is beyond them, or that they simply aren't good at a particular subject.

But sometimes all it takes is a question. One that helps them connect what they're reading or discovering to something they've experienced in their own life.

And then I see it. Their eyes begin to smile. They have something to say. Something that matters. And suddenly, learning doesn't feel quite so intimidating.

That's the feeling I've always wanted to encourage through Liberty Schoolhouse Ed®. In fact, it's why I chose the name. I believe we all have the liberty to learn, to follow our curiosity, and to keep learning as much as we wish, throughout our lives.

It's also what inspired my Insight Into books and what I hope you'll find here in the Discover Room. A place where curiosity is welcome, your own thoughts have value, and there's always something more to discover.
